Scale of Universe VR Introduction
Scale of Universe VR Scale of Universe VR is an immersive education app for Android VR, letting you explore the cosmos with keyword search, smooth zoom, real-scale size comparisons, and interactive viewing of celestial wonders.
Scale of Universe VR
Scale of Universe VR is an engaging educational experience that helps you explore the universe, star fields, and even dinosaurs just by searching with keywords. Tap to open different images and videos, then take a moment to feel the scale, wonder, and quiet vastness of space.

The app is designed for VR devices, placing you inside an immersive view of the starry sky. With a light swipe, you can look around and discover galaxies, black holes, quasars, and other fascinating celestial objects—making the experience feel more real and more captivating.
More content—such as images and 3D models—will continue to be added, so there’s always something new to explore.
Features
Smooth Zoom System

- Zoom in and out smoothly, traveling from the tiniest particles to massive galaxies.
- Because the zoom changes gradually, it’s easier to understand how small and large objects differ.
- Step-by-step zooming reveals details you might miss at a glance, while also helping you grasp how objects relate in both size and distance.
Real and Accurate Size Comparison
- Objects are displayed at real scale, including planets, stars, and galaxies.
- Easily compare which items are larger or smaller in actual size.
- This approach reduces confusion and supports learning the universe’s structure without relying on guesses or misleading representations.
Simple and Easy Controls
- Scrolling, clicking, and dragging are straightforward and quick to learn.
- Beginners can start right away—no special guidance needed.
- Controls respond well, so you can focus on exploring and learning instead of figuring out what buttons do.
- Suitable for everyone, including kids.
Fully Interactive Exploration
- Move freely through space, select objects, and interact with what you find.
- The experience is meant to feel like a learning journey rather than a passive viewing session.
- Exploring stars, space, and different galaxies actively helps reinforce concepts more effectively than reading or watching alone.

Clean and Clear Visuals
- Simple, clear visuals make it easy to recognize each object.
- Images help distinguish among different types of objects such as planets, stars, and galaxies.
- Clarity supports learning focus by turning complex ideas into something easier to understand.
- Overall, the visuals are designed to make the universe’s scale easier to follow during zooming.
Developer Notes
The universe is unimaginably huge—both in the large and the tiny. This VR experience aims to show just how enormous those scales really are. You begin at a human scale, then expand outward to the size of galaxies, or shrink down to the smallest particles.
This project draws inspiration from Cary Huang’s “The Scale of the Universe” web page. After discovering it earlier, the experience was so impressive that, once the developer had a VR headset, the question became: what kind of app would fit VR best? The answer was an app that strongly emphasizes 3D space. When searching for the concept in VR, nothing similar seemed to exist—so the developer decided to build it.
Note: the project is still incomplete and may include bugs or inaccuracies. The developer aimed for accuracy in the represented information, but some details may not be perfect. Most 3D models are free models downloaded from Sketchfab, planets and moons come from NASA, and anything not found was modeled personally.
Summary
From individual planets to the universe itself, explore how structures relate and how everything connects to form what we know. Each image includes a description to help you understand what you’re seeing. It’s easy to use, enjoyable, and built to make learning the universe’s scale engaging.
