User Reviews

“I keep jumping in and out of DeviantArt to post and view refined artwork. But when I last shared my piece, it was blocked as ‘mature content.’ I posted a simple warrior-cats OC drawing I’d been working on for a while, and your team still marked it as mature, so now it can’t be seen. That’s frustrating, because there’s nothing wrong with it—no blood or inappropriate material. If this is because of my art style, that’s even more disappointing since I can’t change it right away. If it’s a mistake, you should fix the issue, because it’s annoying and blocks other people from seeing my art.”

“For the most part, I rarely had login issues in the DeviantArt app. Recently, though, after two-factor authentication was introduced, I started running into problems more often. If I sign in using the DA app, it logs me out of DA on desktop—and when I sign in on desktop, it logs me out of the app. I end up switching back and forth. I’m not sure what’s causing it, so I tried uninstalling the app from my phone and I didn’t see account problems for a bit. But then the desktop logouts started happening again. I also had trouble resetting my password—DeviantArt wouldn’t accept the new password I created, and the password reset page leads to a ‘404 Not Found’ result. It’s made me feel less confident about account security. Even with ‘keep me logged in’ enabled, the site can still randomly log me out. DeviantArt really needs to address this and improve account security so users don’t have to worry about it.”

“Despite the jokes and stereotypes you’ll see in the app, it’s still nice for sharing art and discovering lots of different art styles. You do run into strange content sometimes, so the stereotypes are kind of true—but if you don’t go looking for it, it usually won’t show up on your home feed. There is also a lot of AI art, and that shouldn’t be allowed on an art platform. On top of that, the app feels buggy: it randomly kicks me out, it doesn’t send notifications when someone chats with me, and sometimes it crashes when I try to view certain profiles—then it keeps happening with the same profiles. Occasionally, when I open the app, it only displays about half the screen. It also seems to cut off where it puts your art…”
