About the League

The Indian Super League (ISL) began on October 12, 2014. In October 2019, FIFA and AFC recognized ISL as India’s top domestic league tier. The league is co-promoted by Reliance and Star India, with support from the All India Football Federation (AIFF).

The ISL includes 13 clubs located in Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Guwahati, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Jamshedpur. Leading Indian industrialists and sports celebrities—along with major figures from the Indian film industry—have invested heavily in these clubs.

ISL also focuses on stadium upgrades across the eleven key venues and supports a strong grassroots development program to help train football talent nationwide. With a mission to transform the sport, ISL positions itself as a high-quality, fast-moving league built to take Indian football to an international level.
