CrookCatcher Introduction
CrookCatcher Download CrookCatcher to secure your Android phone. It detects repeated unlock attempts, records the intruder, captures time and location, and emails alerts to help you track and recover.
CrookCatcher

Want to safeguard the important files on your phone? Install CrookCatcher. If someone repeatedly tries to unlock your device, the app automatically captures the intruder’s location and emails it to you—so you can track down and recover your phone more easily. You can also customize protections, such as a fake home screen and warning alerts designed to discourage thieves. The app is updated over time with additional security tools and smarter detection methods to help keep your data protected.
Key Features
- Instant Photo Capture: When an intruder fails to unlock your phone, the app secretly records a photo. You’ll receive that image by email. The alert includes not only the intruder’s picture, but also updated details like the time and location where the photo was taken.
- Email Alert Details: To receive alerts anytime, you’ll need to enable email notifications. The app supports multiple email addresses, which helps increase the chance you spot and respond to suspicious activity quickly.
- Post-Unlock Trigger: The app watches for unusual access patterns. If the system detects suspicious unlocking behavior—such as multiple password/pattern attempts with low accuracy—it sends a warning email to your selected address even if the intruder manages to get in.
- Hidden App Icon: To reduce information leakage, the app can hide its icon. This feature activates when unusual access is detected, helping you stay proactive against personal data theft.
- Pattern Lock Access: The app can work with many lockscreen pattern types to prevent intruders from accessing your device. Your protection is reinforced because intruders may be forced to repeatedly enter their login details for confirmation.

What You Can Do
- Snap Sneaky Photos: If the wrong code is entered, your phone’s front camera quietly takes a quick picture—no visible warning to the intruder (unless you choose to reveal it via settings).
- Flexible Unlock Monitoring: Works with virtually any lock method, including pattern, PIN, or password screens.
- Browse Events With Clarity: View captured photos alongside their map locations, so it’s easier to understand where and when someone tried to break in.
- Stealth Mode: The app stays quiet—no obvious notifications or signs unless you adjust its settings.
- No Heavy Battery Drain: CrookCatcher stays mostly idle and only activates after a failed unlock attempt, helping protect battery life.
- Customizable Security: Choose how many wrong attempts trigger a photo, and fine-tune how GPS/location is handled for your setup.
- Instant Email Alerts: As soon as a photo is captured, you receive an email containing the image plus your device’s precise GPS location—including accuracy info, a map, and a link to help you track your device in real time.
FAQs
-
Q: Does it work without an internet connection?
A: It can still capture photos and location data while offline. However, email alerts and any cloud uploads require an internet connection to send or upload the evidence. -
Q: Will the app drain my battery?
A: No significant drain—CrookCatcher remains mostly inactive and only triggers after failed unlock attempts. -
Q: Can thieves uninstall this app?
A: The app offers options like hiding its icon and requiring a pattern lock to open it, making removal harder. Still, a determined thief with physical access may uninstall it if they can reach settings or reboot the phone. -
Q: Is video capture available in the free version?
A: Video with sound and some advanced options are included in the PRO upgrade. Free users can use photo capture, GPS tagging, and email alerts. -
Q: Is the power menu blocking feature reliable on all devices?
A: It relies on accessibility permissions to try to prevent shutdown/quick settings from the lock screen. Because it’s experimental, it may not work on every Android device or OS version. -
Q: How do I get alerts if the intruder changes my SIM or removes it?
A: Email alerts depend on network connectivity. If the SIM is removed or connectivity is disabled, the app still saves photos and location data locally. You can upload later once the device reconnects, or use auto-upload to Google Drive if enabled.
