Pattern Types and How They Work

ONE SHOT vibration

This makes the device vibrate for a fixed duration measured in milliseconds. It’s a single vibration event.

TIMINGS PATTERN

A timings pattern is an array of positive value pairs in the form {silent, vibration}. If you want no delay at the beginning, the pattern should start with 0.

Example: 0, 1000, 500, 1000, 300, 100

This means:

  • Vibration starts immediately and lasts 1000 ms
  • Then it becomes silent for 500 ms
  • Vibrates again for 1000 ms
  • Then silent for 300 ms
  • Vibrates for 100 ms

VIBRATION USING AMPLITUDE CONTROL

Amplitude controls how strong the vibration is. This feature is not available on every device. The amplitude value must be between 0 and 255—anything outside this range will be clipped.

The vibration result comes from combining Timing and Amplitude values.

  • Each pair vibrates using the given amplitude for the specified time (in milliseconds).

  • Make sure the total number of elements in Timings and Amplitude are the same.

Example:

  • Timings: 10, 100, 50, 100, 300, 100
