Lrytas is one of the biggest news portals in Lithuania, originally launched in 2006. Its goal is to gather and share objective, dependable, up-to-date information—then prepare and present it to different groups of society about current events in Lithuania and worldwide. The vision for the portal is to become an advanced, leading online destination in Lithuania.

On average, lrytas.lt is visited by about 420,000 readers per day, and its monthly audience totals 1.2 million real users.

It also runs a video platform, Lrytas.tv, where content from Lietuvos ryto TV is hosted.

One of the most widely read news portals in Lithuania, Lrytas, has been part of the leading Estonian media group in the Baltics, Ekspress Grupp, since December 2022. The group acquired it from Lietuvos rytas.

The service began in 1999 as the website of the daily newspaper Lietuvos rytas. It later evolved into a news portal in February 2006.

Since 2016, Tautvydas Mikalajūnas has served as editor-in-chief. Before that, he worked as deputy editor, while Liudas Dapkus held that role. In 2017, T. Mikalajūnas also became the portal’s director, taking over from Ričardas Baltaduonis, who had worked with the Lietuvos rytas group since 1995.

According to Gemius, an international internet market research company, Lrytas ranks among the top three news portals in Lithuania. The slogan is: “Lrytas – news that shines.”
