Back Wars is an action-packed war strategy game that mixes tactical planning with real-time combat. Set across a sweeping timeline, it invites you to lead a resistance made up of a wide variety of fighters against a much more primitive foe. In this fantasy military showdown, you can place any two nations against each other and fight with as many troops as your device can handle.

You can also customize the look of every character in your army so they feel like your own personal lineup. Download it and jump into the chaos!

Gameplay

UPGRADES

The game is mostly free to play, with an upgrade option to shape your experience. When you upgrade, you can choose which side to start on and how much territory you begin with. You can also keep the battles entertaining with fantasy fights between any two cultures, using as many warriors as your device supports.

You can edit characters, but note that the game can use up to 1,000 characters, which are regularly replaced.

CONTROLS

When you control a specific fighter, you’ll use either:

• Classic — a one-handed control style
• Dual Wield — each hand is controlled separately

If you’re new to the series’ control setup, you can always pause the action using the dateline, then review the Controls guide. Keep an eye out for in-game tips displayed through scrolls or books you can read.

You can change which team member you’re controlling at any moment in two ways:

• Tap the health meter
• Point directly at the character on the battlefield

Use the arrows at the bottom of the screen to enable Commander mode. In this mode, you step back and direct your active teammate by swiping from their position to a new location. They’ll try to follow your orders—whether that means moving, fighting, or grabbing an item—but they may act according to what makes sense in the moment.

No matter what device or control method you use, you can zoom in or out by pinching at the center of the screen.

MAP

The main mode, Campaign, focuses on expanding your influence. Move your units from one area to a connected area to grow your territory. You can either:

• Fortify a territory you already control
• Attempt to seize a rival territory

Important note: only 50% of the units in a territory are available to move, which makes attacking harder than defending.

Occupied territories can also increase their population after each round, so capturing and holding more areas matters. Units also heal gradually over time**, so rotating your positions and using different locations each turn can help.
