• Control your mobs: Setting up a zombie/skeleton farm can save you far more items than fighting them in open areas. For example, many players can burn through stacks of iron during kill quests before building a mob farm. Be careful with baby zombies, since they can slip through 1-block gaps.
• Be careful with money: If you have money and you need something, consider whether buying right away is worth the risk. Having money on you can be costly—when you die, you typically lose 10% of it.
• Don’t ignore side quests: Side quests are easy to overlook when you’re focused on the main story early on. Later, you may wait hours or even days for main quest progress, and having 10+ side quests waiting unfinished can slow you down. Side quests also provide rewards that many main quests don’t.
• Build a mega island: This is usually not helpful at the start, but once you’ve established yourself around your 7th island (with perhaps a million or two saved), connecting islands with a thick dirt layer is a strong move. It gives you much more space and pays off later.
