Tubular Introduction
Tubular Tubular is a free Android tool for video fans, letting you download and play YouTube videos offline. Enjoy ad and pop-up blocking, no sign-in use, background playback, and multiple quality options.
Tubular
Tubular is a free utility made for video lovers. It lets you download and play your favorite YouTube videos freely, while automatically blocking ads and pop-ups so you can enjoy a cleaner, distraction-free viewing experience. The app is lightweight, works on most mobile models, and lets you play downloaded videos even when you’re offline. If you want a fresh way to watch videos, Tubular is worth checking out.
Features

Use the app without signing into YouTube

Many users prefer not to share personal information with third-party apps. With Tubular, you don’t need to enter any details or log in with your YouTube account. You can still follow the channels you care about—inside the app. That way, when a channel posts something new, you can catch it quickly, similar to using the official YouTube app.
Download YouTube videos in a few taps
A key feature of Tubular is offline viewing. You can download videos so you can watch without an internet connection. Choose from these quality options for both playback and downloading: 144p, 240p, 360p, 480p, 720p, and 1080p. Downloads are saved in MPEG-4 format, and before downloading, you can view an estimated file size.
If you prefer audio only, you can download sound separately as well. Tubular supports OPUS and M4A formats, with multiple quality choices.
Background video playback
With Tubular, you can keep watching while using other apps—or even when the screen is locked. Background playback is great for continuing to listen to videos, podcasts, or music.

Note: when you play in the background, Tubular downloads only the audio portion to help reduce data usage. You can also open a video in a floating thumbnail window that stays on top of other apps if you want multitasking-friendly playback.
Ad-free and sponsor-free watching
No more getting interrupted by ads. Tubular automatically blocks video ads. It also uses SponsorBlock to remove sponsored segments by default.
Want to support a creator you like? You can add their channel to a whitelist, so their sponsored content remains visible.

FAQs
How do I set up NewPipe to work with Android Auto?
NewPipe can work with Android Auto (as described here). You’ll need to do a few manual steps to make it show up in the car interface (or you can follow a tutorial video):
- Open Android system settings.
- Go to Connected devices > Connection preferences > Android Auto (you can search for “Android Auto” in Settings).
- Scroll to the bottom and find Version.
- Tap Version multiple times to enable developer options.
- In the activation prompt, press OK.
- After enabling it, open the 3-dot menu (top-right) and select Developer settings.
- Scroll down to Unknown sources and enable the checkbox.
- Restart your phone.
You should then be able to use NewPipe through the Android Auto interface.

Reminder: Use NewPipe with Android Auto only when it’s safe—avoid distraction while driving.
Does it support YouTube / Google login?
NewPipe aims to protect user privacy as much as possible. The app only sends the information needed to access content such as videos or search results.
That said, the developers also want to be clear that they won’t add authentication methods that could enable user tracking.
Background player notification doesn’t show on MIUI
Try force-stopping NewPipe, then check:

- Settings > Notifications > Control center > Lock screen > Format
- Choose one of these options:
- Show notifications but hide content
- Show notifications and content
If this doesn’t solve it, contact support. Reference: https://github.com/TeamNewPipe/website/issues/288.
Can I play offline content inside the app?
To play streams offline, you need to use an external video player.
The team considered building this directly into NewPipe, but decided against it for reasons such as:
- Most phones already include a built-in audio/video player.
- There are other apps available that handle this use case well.
