Marvel’s Spider-Man is an open-world action-adventure game where you step into Spider-Man’s shoes to defend the city. You can roam freely, web-swing between buildings, enjoy what Manhattan has to offer, and then tackle main missions to earn experience and improve Spider-Man’s stats.

The game also delivers a high-energy combat experience that lets you mix and match different suits and skills. Keep in mind: every suit comes with unique battle advantages, helping you defeat enemies more efficiently, keep the city safe, and walk away with better rewards.

Gameplay Overview

Set in a fictionalized version of modern-day New York City, the adventure takes place across the borough of Manhattan. The game is shown from a third-person view, letting you freely rotate the camera around the character.

Spider-Man Movement & Web Swinging

• Jump, run, and climb as you explore.
• Use your web shooters to fire webs and swing between buildings.
• Wall-run and automatically vault over obstacles as you travel.



• Webs can be targeted precisely to pull you toward specific points.
• To swing, you need physical objects to attach the webs to.
• You can control swing momentum and speed by releasing the web at key moments to gain height or travel faster.

Fast Travel (Optional)

An optional fast travel system is available using the New York City Subway.

Combat Controls & Tactics

• Combat is handled with three main buttons: dodging, physical attacks, and web-based attacks.
• Webbing can disable enemies and stick them to nearby objects, removing them from the fight right away.
• If enemies are knocked from high places, they can be automatically trapped in a web-cocoon on impact, preventing death.
• Use the environment too—jump off walls, throw objects (like manhole covers), toss grenades, and even web up foes to control the battlefield.

Focus, Spider-Sense, and Finishing Moves

• Link together successful attacks to build “Focus”.
• Spending some Focus can partially heal Spider-Man.
• Using all your Focus unlocks special finishing attacks that can take down an enemy instantly.
• Spider-sense appears as a white icon above/around Spider-Man’s head to warn of incoming attacks.



• A perfectly timed dodge right before an attack lands lets Spider-Man counter with webbing.

Enemy Types & How to Counter Them

Not every foe can be beaten the same way—switch tactics based on what you’re facing:

• Melee-weapon enemies: knock them into the air, then keep them covered/controlled.
• Shielded enemies: attack from the behind.
• Whip-wielding enemies: they can pull Spider-Man out of the air, so you’ll need a well-timed counter.
• Heavily armored agents: require more punishment and sustained offense.
• Brutes: built for pressure and durability.
• Jetpack enemies: stay airborne, forcing you to adapt your approach.

Gadgets & Suit Abilities

• Deploy gadgets during fights, including:
  • Electric webbing

  

  • Concussive blasts
  • Impact webbing that launches enemies backward and can stick them to a surface
• Gadgets are unlocked as you progress and are accessed from a radial menu.
• Unlockable suits are based on versions of the character from media, plus original suits made specifically for the game.



• Suits often provide combat-focused perks such as:
  • boosting Focus gain
  • reducing gravity
  • improving stealth
  • temporary invulnerability
  • electromagnetic pulse effects to disable enemy weapons
• After unlocking, you can freely combine suits and powers.

Stealth & Traversal Skills

Stealth combat is built around moving across high ledges using gadgets or webbing to neutralize lone enemies before they can react.

Skills & Leveling Up

As you level up, you unlock skills from three specialties: ground combat, aerial combat, and traversal.

Useful Tips

Roof Hopping

You’ll spend much of your time swinging between rooftops in Manhattan. Once you’re comfortable with the controls, focus on maximizing your speed and momentum as you travel—this is the fastest way to keep your pace up while moving through the city.
