• Use suppressed weapons. It’s the obvious stealth move, but it’s worth repeating.
• The Five-Seven is a strong choice as a silenced pistol. When it becomes available, consider replacing your current sidearm with it.
• Recon first. Scout the area before you rush in—there’s usually an alternate route you can use.
• Upgrade what you actually use. If you rely on the Five-Seven, upgrade it; don’t waste upgrades on the AK-47 unless you plan to use it (or until you’re upgrading everything broadly).

I hate that, because I love this game—I’ve finished it more times than I can count. You can even hang from the ceiling, but not with a rope, so -2 points for realism.
