Be Aggressive (But Don’t Panic)

In the middle of chaos, it’s easy to dash wildly. Instead, remember this: many standard enemies are effectively stunned as long as you keep hitting them. Your attacks can interrupt their actions and hold them in place—so if you isolate a single target (or a small group), focus your damage and keep the pressure on.

Two enemy types don’t follow this rule:

• Boses (for example, Hecate) will still attack you even while you’re landing hits.



• Enemies with a yellow armor bar over their health will ignore your combo rhythm.

If you see that yellow indicator, be ready to dodge—don’t rely on trading hits.

Synergy Beats Rarity Every Time

You’ll be tempted to grab a shiny purple Epic Boon the moment you see it. Try resisting that reflex. In Hades 2, a dull-looking Common Boon that perfectly supports your current build can outperform a random Epic pick that doesn’t.

Think about what your build is doing right now. For example, if you’re using a fast weapon, a common Zeus Boon that adds small chain lightning on each hit can far outshine an Epic option that only triggers from a slow Cast. In short: combo compatibility matters more than flashy color.

The Hammer Is Almost Always Worth It

Resources matter, but one upgrade is consistently a top priority: the Daedalus Hammer. These golden anvils give you a choice of three large upgrades that can drastically change how your weapon functions during that run.

In many cases, a single Hammer upgrade can be more impactful than stacking multiple god Boons—sometimes boosting damage by 300% or even doubling your attack speed. When you see the Hammer icon, take it. A rare exception is when the other route leads straight to a Charon shop and you’re sitting on plenty of money—but even then, it’s a difficult call.

Death Isn’t Failure—It’s Progress

If you’re new to roguelites, this is the most important mindset shift: dying isn’t losing. It’s moving forward. Each time you return to the Crossroads, you carry resources with you. Even more importantly, coming back often triggers new conversations, new incantations, and fresh story beats. So don’t get frustrated by deaths—treat them as the game telling you it’s time to hear what’s next.

Stop Trying to “Win” Right Away—Start Collecting
