Gameplay Overview

In general, Assassin’s Creed Bloodlines follows the familiar control style of earlier Assassin’s Creed titles, though the control setup was adjusted. Some elements from the previous game are not included, including Eagle Vision, the Gentle Push, and horseback riding.

Blending has also been changed: it’s now used only to slip past guards safely. Altaïr can no longer blend with scholars as a hiding method. You can still perform both high- and low-profile assassinations, and the game also adds a ledge assassination option.

Templar Coins and Upgrades

Instead of traditional flags, the game introduces a new collectible: Templar coins. These coins can be used to upgrade health bars and to increase how much damage a weapon can deal. Coins come in three types: bronze, silver, and gold, with gold being the most valuable.

Side Missions

Alongside the main missions, you’ll find side objectives. Examples include rescuing civilians from Templar forces and taking on tasks for allies supporting the resistance. The range of activities has been expanded, such as delivering letters and intercepting couriers.

In return, Altaïr receives coin rewards for completing these tasks, rather than receiving help from allied groups as was done in the earlier game.

Cyprus Setting and Synchronization

The entire adventure is built around the island of Cyprus, with the world based on two key locations: Limassol and Kyrenia. Like in earlier entries, Altaïr can synchronize from high points to help chart the city. Even though the map is already laid out, synchronization reveals the locations of side missions.

Combat and Assassination Changes

Combat feels similar to other Assassin’s Creed games. Weapons carry over from the previous title, including Altaïr’s sword, short blade, throwing knives, and fists. Throwing knives can now be recovered after being used. Altaïr can also instantly kill a downed enemy.

Story Missions Reworked

Story missions and assassination sequences have been redesigned. Earlier information-gathering options such as pickpocketing and eavesdropping are removed. Instead, missions follow a structure closer to Assassin’s Creed II: Altaïr completes one objective after another, gradually learning details from both allies and enemies as you clear each mission.

Accomplishments System

The game includes an in-game achievement system called Accomplishments. Completing specific challenges rewards you with Templar coins. Accomplishments can be earned by tasks like killing a set number of soldiers in a specific order, and by collecting all Templar coins hidden across the game world.
