Important Notes
Avoid unofficial / trainer versions
Trainer or cracked builds hosted on sites such as CSDB are known to cause problems and may behave incorrectly compared to the official release.
For the most accurate gameplay, proper behavior, and support, use the official version published here. It’s a free, respectful update to the original 1987 C64 conversion and has been tested on real hardware.
Unofficial versions are not supported, and any reports or complaints tied to them can’t be considered.
Thank you for understanding.

Two-button control & SID compatibility on real hardware

The Commodore 64 reads paddle inputs through its SID chip. The second joystick button is connected to pin 9 and is detected using the POT X signal.
If Button 2 doesn’t work correctly for you, your system may be using a SID replacement (for example, SwinSID or similar) that doesn’t fully match the original SID’s handling of paddle inputs.
This isn’t a game bug. Any C64 software that reads the second joystick button via POT input will show the same behavior on incompatible SID replacements.
For proper control behavior, use an original SID or a fully compatible replacement.
PAL system required
This game is a hack of the PAL version of Bubble Bobble for the Commodore 64, designed to be played on PAL systems only.
Running on NTSC machines or using NTSC emulation may result in issues like inconsistent/incorrect game speed and audiovisual glitches.
For the intended experience, play on PAL hardware or use an emulator configured for PAL.
Useful Tips

- During gameplay, switch between 1-player and 2-player mode by pressing the Space key.
- In 2-player mode: if one player’s screen shows “Game Over”, they can get back into the match by pressing the fire button—as long as there are still credits available. Their score is reset to zero.
- If both players show “Game Over” at the same time, the game may end even if credits remain.
- Collecting E, X, T, E, N, D skips the current level and grants an extra life.
- Extra lives are awarded at 30,000, 100,000, 400,000, 1,000,000, and 2,000,000 points.
- If both players pick up a power-up at the same time, both receive its effects.
- If one player collects a bottle, and both players later collect the same number of bonus items, both players receive the higher points value.
- Picking up the umbrella lets you skip 3 levels—or even 7 in some cases.
- Collecting the clock delays when the meanie Baron of Blubba appears.
- The nut releases a snake that destroys/dismantles things in its path.
- The cross behaves differently depending on its color:
- Yellow cross: Bub or Bob fires fireballs with a strong impact.
- Blue cross: Monsters turn into jewels (each jewel collected gives 10,000 points).
- Flashing cross: Destroys the monsters. You’ll fire three big flashes—collect them for best results.
- Large bonus symbols count as a 10× bonus.
- Some stages require you to jump higher than normal.
- In multiplayer: one player should spit bubbles while the other jumps onto them (jump onto the bubble, then immediately onto the higher spot—otherwise the bubble will pop). This is harder in single-player.
- If you reach level 20, 30, 40, 80, or 90 without losing a life, a door appears. Touch it to enter a bonus room full of diamonds, where you can collect 432,000 points, then continue to levels 22/32/42/82/92.
- If you reach level 50 without losing a life, a white door appears that teleports you to level 70 (!).
- On the 100th stage, you first need to grab the pots with the flashes, then throw the flashes from bubbles toward the enemies.
- Completing the 100th stage gives you roughly 1,000,000 points.
