The Mystery of NTR is an adult-oriented visual novel where you step into the shoes of Jake, a college dropout who feels worn down by life. After running out of money, he returns to his family’s old house on the city outskirts—where his new start quickly turns into something far more unsettling.

Throughout the game, you’ll experience events through Jake’s perspective, including the emotional shock that follows betrayal discovered firsthand. As the story unfolds, you’ll slowly piece together what really happened, gather additional evidence, and build your way toward the final ending by making choices that shape what you uncover.

Gameplay

The core gameplay follows a repeating rhythm: daily routines plus story progression. Each in-game day, you’re shown a list of places you can go and actions you can take.

• Choosing “Stay Home” may uncover a clue related to a partner’s absence.
• Choosing “Follow” uses an action point, but it can also lead to a pivotal scene in the story.

Exploration is handled through a menu system, but it’s tense: you must reason out where to be and when to witness key moments. The game’s mission flow is essentially the narrative itself, presented in chapters that unlock when you meet specific conditions.

Instead of combat, you face tense dialogue confrontations and intuition-style checks similar to quick-time events. To move forward, you’ll need to pick the right response or select the correct evidence.

Strategically, you’ll manage limited action points to chase multiple leads. You’ll also have to balance relationship stats carefully to avoid losing too early—such as a complete breakup or getting caught while spying. “Survival” here is more psychological than physical, focused on protecting Jake’s mental state and the stability of his relationships.
