Starter Strategy (Best Starter by Region)

Here are suggested starters to start strong in each region:

Kanto

• Bulbasaur: Manage the early game solo by aiming to win 3 of the first 4 gyms. If you hit a tough stretch, that’s usually the moment to rely on a fuller team for support.

Hoenn

• Mudkip: Recommended because it doesn’t face weaknesses against any Hoenn gym leader or Elite Four member. It also learns Quake after you train to the right level following completion across regions.

Unova

• Samurott: The starters aren’t viewed as clearly superior here compared to other regions’ picks. Still, many players report that Samurott can take on the Elite Four effectively when used well.

Sinnoh

• Infernape: Don’t overthink it. While it has weaker defensive staying power, it makes up for it with speed plus solid Attack and Special Attack, making it easy to work with.

Important note: There isn’t a single “perfect” region order. A common recommendation is to complete Unova last, since starter options there aren’t considered the strongest. Starter suggestions are meant as guidance—your actual choice depends on what you pick with the professor. You can always catch other Pokémon later (check your Dex for locations).

Battle tips:

• If you lose, you don’t lose money—so you can retry any battle without consequences.
• After Elite Four battles, you get healed. Because of this, there’s no strong need to overspend on Potions or similar items.
• If you get a chance to heal, take it.
• If you get stuck in a tough fight, step back and train a bit. If you need a new Pokémon, don’t rely on global requests—catch something suitable instead (based on availability in your area).

I’m missing Reward Points after my payment was charged. What should I do?

Answer: PokeMMO processes donations automatically using a third-party payment provider called Xsolla. To fix missing Reward Points, you’ll need to contact Xsolla Support.
