Now and Then Introduction

Now and Then Now and Then is a story-driven casual survival game set after a mysterious pandemic. Team up with your teenage stepdaughter to gather resources, face crises, and grow a deep emotional bond.

Now and Then

Now and Then is a story-focused casual survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world created by a mysterious pandemic. You play as a young widower and travel through this dangerous new reality alongside your teenage stepdaughter. Together, you’ll search for supplies, face unexpected events, and meet a cast of characters shaped by the outbreak.

Your decisions matter—how you handle crises will affect your relationships, especially as you slowly build a close, emotional bond with your stepdaughter. As the story progresses, you’ll gradually unlock intimate story moments.

Now and Then

The game is currently receiving ongoing updates, including new characters, additional story chapters, and new intimate animations. Keep an eye out for what’s next!

Characters

Jack

Now and Then

Jack starts the game already “assembled,” but life hasn’t been kind to him. Before he met Carol, he was married to Lori—until she died, leaving him broken. After a young 13-year-old Carol was adopted into his life, Jack slowly began putting himself back together. He prepared in small ways for difficult times, so when the world finally collapsed, he was better equipped than most.

Jack is sentimental and caring, and he will do whatever it takes to protect the people he loves.

Lori

Lori is the MC’s former wife and an elementary school teacher. She passed away from cancer about a year before Jack adopted Carol. You’ll only see her through flashbacks.

Julie

Julie is a close friend of Lori and Jack, and she also works as a school teacher. She is married to Tony and recently welcomed a son named Kenny.

Missy

Missy is a social worker and a friend of Julie. She handled the case involving 13-year-old Carol as she searched for a family willing to adopt her.

Carol

Carol is now 18 years old and the adopted daughter of the MC. She’s fiercely protective of her father and will go to great lengths to keep him safe. She loves him deeply, and even when she says otherwise, she still constantly seeks his approval and affection. She’s also stronger than she realizes.

Naomi

Now and Then

Naomi is Carol’s 18-year-old best friend. They met at school when they were both 13, and their friendship has been strong ever since. Naomi likes to stir the pot and make things uncomfortable, acting like the instigator in many situations. Despite her rough attitude, she still has an innocent streak.

She struggles with trust, especially where her mother is concerned. If you manage to be alone with her, she becomes less abrasive and more open—really hoping to be cared for like someone might care for her from a father figure. Her own father wasn’t much of a presence.

Now and Then

Alice

Alice is Naomi’s mother and also plays a “surrogate mother” role for Carol. She’s a warm, devoted parent and is married to Ted, though he seems somewhat distant. Alice tries to maintain a stable home and hopes one day her husband will show her more affection.

Sydney

Sydney is a nurse in her mid-twenties who was trapped during the outbreak in the city. Her family told her to stay at the elementary school, and since then she’s been living there, waiting for them to return. She’s independent, but she still loves her family and isn’t easily trusting of strangers.

Hana

Hana is the oldest daughter of a wealthy tech millionaire. She’s smart and used to getting her way. Since the outbreak began, she’s been living on her own and isn’t sure what’s smartest now: staying in charge of her solitude, or risking trust with others.

Game Highlights

Resource Management & Survival

Survival is central to the present timeline. You’ll need to gather resources, make difficult calls about whom to trust, and defend yourself from threats coming from both other people and the environment. These decisions don’t stay “in the background”—they directly influence the relationships between Jack and Carol, and also with other survivors you meet along the way.

Emotional Storytelling

Now & Then leans into emotional storytelling, focusing on how heavy loss can be—and what it really means to raise Carol in a world that never stops being dangerous. The game blends personal growth with survival pressure, helping you connect more deeply with the characters’ journey.

Immersive Worldbuilding

The world is built with rich detail, from the decayed remnants of society to quiet, personal moments between Jack and Carol. You’ll explore abandoned towns, forests, and shelters—scavenging for supplies while gradually uncovering clues about the pandemic and what came after it.
