As the story opens, autumn settles over the mountain town of Golden Grove. But it’s not just the leaves that are changing. You and your mom leave your old life behind and move into a new home tucked into a close-knit cul-de-sac. That’s where an ordinary paper airplane lands at your feet—leading you toward unexpected crossroads.

Gameplay & Tips

While you can decide how close you want to be with most people, there are two neighbors whose relationship with you runs deeper than the rest: Qiu and Tamarack. They’re the same age as you and live right next door.

Qiu “Autumn” Lin

• A true Golden Grove native—born and raised there.
• They’re known as the town kid everyone watches: popular and charming, until it becomes overwhelming.
• At some point, a coldness settles in and Qiu pulls away, keeping only a small circle close.
• Even so, the rain doesn’t last forever—real support can help sadness heal.
• Eventually, Qiu finds their way back to shining, brighter than before.

In Autumn, you’ll meet someone thoughtful who just needs time to fully accept the person they’ve always known they were. Qiu was assigned male at birth, but comes out as genderfluid (they/he) during the story.

Tamarack Baumann

• A newcomer who moved in about a week before you.



• To the people lucky enough to know her, Tamarack is pure warmth and joy.
• Like the forests she loves, she changes—both in big ways and small.
• Not always for the better: she can get led down paths by “wrong branches,” resulting in pain.
• Still, despite the sharp edges and obstacles along the way, her heart remains steady.

With Tamarack, you’ll get to know a kind girl with a lot to learn about herself—someone who won’t stop trying to find her place. Tamarack uses she/her pronouns throughout the story.

Note: Qiu and Tamarack can each end up with more than one hairstyle as the story continues.
