Annulus
Annulus is a medieval-inspired tactical strategy game that blends a sweeping world, dark narrative themes, fantasy atmosphere, and breathtaking visuals. You play as a mercenary captain—hiring and training your crew, arming them with formidable weapons, and taking on mission after mission. Fight a wide range of foes across the continent to claim valuable rewards, strengthen your mercenaries through leveling, and unlock new forms and abilities as you progress.
Combat isn’t just about stats: weather shifts and elemental interactions can strongly change how much damage you deal. The terrain and current conditions also influence your unit positioning, making every encounter feel more grounded and immersive. The story is supported by complex side quests, where your decisions can alter the direction of the main storyline.
Key Features
Annulus draws inspiration from gritty, hard-edged medieval warfare and pairs it with classic Lovecraftian visual flair to deliver a distinct dark-fantasy tactical experience. Powered by Unreal Engine and supported by cinematic narrative CG sequences, the game presents a dramatic storyline filled with clashes of steel, chaos, and shadowy dread.

As mercenaries level up, their forms, attributes, and skill sets evolve. Some major characters even gain brand-new forms tied to their narrative roots—each with bold designs and powerful visual presence. These transformations unlock more elaborate skill effects, while their exclusive character auras push you to master formation tactics and maximize your team’s overall strength.
Across the turbulent lands of Novisess, three major races—Orcs, Elves, and Humans—have produced countless uniquely designed mercenaries. By combining inscriptions, classes, weapon proficiencies, and weapon skills, you can shape specialized playstyles such as collision, knockback, tanking, decay, and more. Recruit and train your mercenaries, then adjust your unit lineup and skill interactions to match each battlefield and secure victory.
Battles may also trigger a variety of combat effects based on random weather and elemental conditions. Environmental factors—such as terrain, day–night cycles, vegetation, and other surroundings—directly affect how mercenaries perform. On top of that, the Contamination Value system introduces meaningful buffs and debuffs, increasing immersion and making outcomes less predictable and more tactical.
Beyond the main campaign, Annulus features a web of side stories. Your choices can shift the narrative and may even trigger entirely new battle events, deepening the medieval fantasy experience. The world map is packed with exploration points where you can send squads—through eerie forests, dangerous mountain routes, and life-or-death trials. Rare resources are scattered across the continent for fearless mercenaries to seize.
Strategies
Use Units Wisely on the Battlefield
In Annulus, simply placing units anywhere won’t help—you’ll get better results by following sound placement strategies. Some tiles can deal extra damage to enemies, while others won’t. At the start of a fight, you’ll see two tile colors: white tiles are the ones you should use to maneuver and set up attacks, while red tiles generally mean you’re not receiving the benefit from your attacks.
Also, match the right weapon to the right tile. For example, spear attacks are more effective against sword targets when used under the best conditions. Use tile advantages and deploy your best weapons to eliminate enemies quickly—sometimes with a single well-timed shot.

Defeat More Enemies to Gain More Power

IIn Annulus, we recommend fighting and defeating as many enemies as you can. It helps you earn more EXP through the game’s challenge rewards. These rewards are tied to specific conditions—so be sure to meet the requirements listed during gameplay.
More battles mean more level-ups, which translate into higher strength. In practice, that makes your heroes stronger and helps you push farther through the game’s progression.

Summon Heroes Using Recruitment Credits
Recruiting heroes isn’t your only source of value in Annulus. Recruitment also grants recruitment credits, available in different amounts. It’s strongly recommended that you keep hold of these credits, since you can later exchange them for useful items.
With the right materials and credit-based options, you can obtain powerful heroes that further strengthen your roster—making this approach especially helpful for your overall gameplay, particularly as you advance.
