Arcaea
Arcaea is a mobile music rhythm game where you guide two girls across separate journeys to recover their lost memories. Even though their paths diverge, their fates stay connected.
Rhythm gameplay is straightforward: notes appear on a 2D chart, and you must tap, swipe, or long-press in front of the judgment line to score higher. Your timing is judged according to the music’s rhythm.
The game includes three difficulty levels, letting you test your limits and compete with others on the leaderboard. With 350+ tracks already available, new updates keep adding more memorable songs. Stay tuned!
Gameplay Overview
Arcaea’s core chart layout uses 3D-style lane design split into two sections: the top lane and the bottom lane. Notes move across the screen toward the judgment area, and you must respond when they reach the guiding lines.
Top Lane Notes
- Arcs (L / R) in blue (L) or pink (R): color-coded to indicate which hand you should use. These notes require you to hold them for their full duration. Arc paths curve through 360 degrees, creating unique chart patterns.
- Sky Notes: single-tap notes that appear in the top lane.
Bottom Lane Notes
- Floor Notes: basic single-tap notes in the bottom lane (similar in function to Sky Notes, but placed lower).
- Long Notes: notes that must be held until their duration ends.

How to Play
During gameplay, you’ll track two streams of notes at once (top and bottom). When notes intersect the guiding lines, tap the screen or use controller buttons (if supported) to hit them correctly.
Difficulty System (Base Difficulties + Constants)

Arcaea features five base difficulty categories: Past, Present, Future, Eternal, and Beyond (available since version 5.7.0).
- Overall difficulty is scaled from 1 to 12, including “+” variants.
- For example, FTR difficulties can go as low as Future 9+ (using the chart constant system).
- The chart constant is a precise numeric value that represents how difficult a chart is—often more accurate than the displayed difficulty label.
Partners, World Mode, and Stamina
The game includes 40+ partners (characters) that provide various benefits while you play. When you select partners for a song, they earn experience points and can be used in World Mode.

World Mode lets you play songs to earn more:
- songs
- in-game currency
- story progress
- and potentially additional partners
Worlds consume Stamina each time you play. You begin with 12 stamina bars by default, and it takes 30 minutes to gain 1 bar. Depending on the World, stamina costs typically range from 0 up to 6 bars (often using 0 / 2 / and/or up to 6).
Potential (Rank) System
Your overall skill level (your rank) in Arcaea is tracked through Potential (PTT).
- If you start at 0.00 PTT, the highest Potential another player can reach at that time is 13.29 PTT.
- This maximum can increase over time as more songs are added.
- Potential is calculated using math based on a completed chart’s main difficulty, letter grade, and high score.
- After finishing a song, your Potential can rise, drop, or stay depending on your performance.
Note: Potential doesn’t affect moment-to-moment gameplay directly. Instead, it’s used for certain unlocks—many boss tracks, for example, typically require around 11.00 PTT.

Key Features
- High Difficulty Ceiling: You’ll often face charts that demand full focus, while still improving your skill step by step as you progress.
- Endurance Testing: Course Mode is ideal if you want tougher challenges, featuring many high-difficulty songs.
- Over 350 Songs: Discover tracks from well-known artists, with multiple styles to match your mood.
- Regular Content Updates: Updates keep bringing new content—fresh songs and new elements to master.
- Offline Play: You can jump in right away and enjoy the variety immediately.
- Multiple Difficulty Levels: Each song is designed to give different entertainment experiences depending on difficulty.

Useful Tips
If you’re just starting out, don’t rush into harder charts. If you can’t reliably handle EX notes on the current charts you’re playing, focus on improving your skills on past charts first. At some point, you’ll naturally be ready to try other characters and move up.
