Notewise Introduction
Notewise Notewise is a mobile note-taking app for handwriting, scanning, and AI-powered summaries. Recognize text with OCR, export to PDF, organize with folders/tags, and share in real time.
Notewise
Notewise is a mobile-first note app that lets you write by hand, build clear charts, and use AI to summarize the most important points. You can also turn handwritten pages into PDF files so you can review your notes easily.
The app uses advanced image and document scanning to recognize what you’ve written—including doodles. Scanned content stays editable, so you can refine it whenever you need. Notewise also includes a full writing toolkit: pens in multiple colors and thicknesses, erasers, text boxes, rulers, and more—helping you create polished, high-quality notes.
For teamwork and sharing, you can share folders in real time using a link or a QR code. Others can edit online, and everyone saves time.
Key Features
Handwriting you can trust
To make writing comfortable, Notewise is designed for low-latency input with features like palm rejection, pressure-sensitive pens, smooth highlighting, stroke stabilization, and shape assistance. This makes it a strong fit for class notes, design sketches, and whiteboard-style work.
The built-in toolbox includes: pen, highlighter, eraser, lasso, tape, shape, text box, image, audio recorder, table, zoom box, ruler, and a laser pointer.
Search your handwriting with AI OCR
Notewise doesn’t stop at writing. It can recognize text from handwriting, scans, and imported PDFs. That means you can search for things like formulas, quotes, or action items without retyping them.
With multilingual recognition, you can work across different languages and extract key information from worksheets, whiteboards, and course materials.
Organize and manage your note library
After your notes are created, you can keep everything organized with folders and tags, sort your items, and pin recent work. Notewise supports tasks like merging content, reordering pages, and bulk import/export.
Simple controls and color coding help prevent bigger projects from becoming messy, so your notes stay easy to revisit.
Sync, collaborate, and share
When you’re working with others, Notewise supports real-time collaboration inside shared notebooks. Notes can sync to the cloud, and an offline-first approach helps keep editing fast and responsive on your device.
You can share via URL or QR code, and you can also export notes as PDF or image files. Notes are encrypted, and the app has no ads and does not sell data.
Noteworthy Highlights
A flexible writing space
One of the best parts of Notewise is how free-form it feels. The app doesn’t force you into lines, fixed boxes, or a rigid layout. You can write text one day, and diagrams, arrows, and circles the next—without the app getting in the way.
You can write wherever you want: off-center, on top of existing content, or in new corners as ideas come to you. For example, if a second thought appears, you can simply move to an empty area and add it—without needing to restructure what you already wrote.
Write and edit directly on PDFs
At first, the PDF note feature may seem similar to other apps, but using it changes the experience. When you open a PDF in Notewise, you can write directly on the document, draw arrows, circle important parts, and underline key sections smoothly.
Instead of feeling like you’re attaching notes to a file, it feels more like you’re writing on printed paper. You also don’t have to pause your reading workflow—when you find something important, you can mark it immediately.
This seamless approach helps you read more deeply and remember longer because your attention stays on the material rather than switching between complicated modes and toolbars.
Very effective note organization
Notewise organizes notes in a way that feels intuitive—more like a notebook you keep in your bag than a system of folders and deep hierarchies. You typically have a folder, with notebooks and items stored in predictable locations. It may look simple at first, but it becomes quite convenient over time.
As notes accumulate, searching becomes essential. Notewise supports search not only by titles, but also by the handwritten content. When you type keywords and the app locates the exact page, it feels like your writing hasn’t been lost or buried.
User Feedback
Very good overall, with room to improve:
- Erasing: handwritten erasing should separate “line shape” from erasing behavior, because two functions are being used but may need clearer separation.
- Board number visibility: board numbers aren’t displayed. Showing the board number would make navigation easier than searching.
- Jumping between boards: if board numbers are available, users could move from one board to another more easily.
