- I tried many workout apps looking for a way to create and log custom routines. Some had good features, but none matched everything I wanted. Then I found Lyfta—create countless workouts and routines, with a massive exercise database (including stretches). Exercises are sorted by muscle group, and you can adjust set types like normal, drop, L/R, and more. The only downside: I didn’t see a muscle-worked summary, but I may have missed it.
- I really like it because it’s easy to target specific muscle groups and build a quick workout by filtering. It’s great for people who “don’t know what to do in the gym.” If you’re unsure what an exercise involves, tapping the question mark next to it shows a video on how to perform it, and it can also link you to YouTube for extra guidance.
- Best gym app overall. Two small UI issues: when you swipe left on a set to delete it, and then edit another set’s weight or reps, an undo message appears above the “0” button. Also, in Progress > Exercises, it would be better to sort by 1RM and max reps instead of A–Z. In addition, photos taken after gym sessions sometimes don’t show up under Progress > Photos (might be a bug).
- I love the app and it’s affordable, but there are a few things with potential: the UI could be cleaner (similar to Hevy), I wish I didn’t have to create a program just to build a workout, and it would be great to have a calendar “year” view where each day is a colored square if you trained. I also feel the app could be more intuitive and easier to navigate on your own. If these are improved, it would be hard to beat any other app.
