Riptide GP: Renegade Introduction
Riptide GP: Renegade Riptide GP: Renegade is an arcade-style water racing game with police pursuit, turbo boosts from tricks, and smart shortcuts across shifting tracks. Team up online and race up to eight players for leaderboard rewards.
Riptide GP: Renegade
Riptide GP: Renegade is a high-speed racing sports game that throws you into a nonstop chase. Police pursuit barrels down behind you as you blast across water at full throttle. Using your driving skills, you’ll need to outmaneuver danger and slip out of capture while staying fast enough to keep momentum.
The game also includes a multiplayer mode. Create your own crew and race online against others with up to eight players. Push your limits on the track to stand out, earn valuable rewards, and climb the leaderboard. As you progress, you unlock more jet skis and new map scenarios, making the water racing feel even more intense over time.
Gameplay
The controls feel exactly like a classic arcade racer. Hold the right trigger to accelerate, use the left control to brake, and press the A button to activate your turbo.
Your boost isn’t just unlimited—it’s charged by pulling off tricks. Tricks can be done either mid-air or on land. In general, the more complex the trick, the more boost you earn.
- Simple tricks are quick to complete.
- Harder tricks require more time to finish—so timing matters.
- If you touch the water before the trick completes, you’ll tumble off your bike in an exaggerated, comical ragdoll failure.
Overall, the risk vs. reward is handled really well. You’ll likely make mistakes if you get too confident—many races can be lost by going for flashy tricks at the wrong moment.
Tracks and Progression
There are nine tracks total, and you’ll revisit them across the game’s five chapters. Each chapter uses distinct themes—ranging from a theme park environment to a flooded city.

Every track includes alternate routes and shortcuts you can discover to gain an advantage. In many cases, these options appear because the track shifts during the run. For example, theme park levels may use water fountains that launch your hydro jet upward, letting you bypass a section of the course.
Levels are packed with action, from battling dreadnoughts (which you can use as makeshift ramps) to dealing with relentless water police trying to ram you off course.
Features
Deep Career Mode

You’ll face a sequence of challenging situations, tough adversaries, and nasty boss fights. As you play, you’ll also uncover entertaining stories that follow your rise through the Riptide world.
Multiple Maps with Different Setups

Players also get access to a variety of impressive in-game locations. Race on environments like floating factories, ride through the power of massive waves, or take on dangerous missions where you infiltrate a military base.
With different obstacles and challenges in each map, you’ll get to experience multiple aspects of the game rather than repeating the same setup.
Challenge Mode for Big Tests

As you progress, you can also collect a range of rewards.

Upgrade and Customize Your Jet Ski
Riptide GP: Renegade includes plenty of upgrades and customization. Collect parts as you take on challenges and tournaments, and use them to transform your ride into a stronger hydro jet with impressive performance.
Win races to earn new upgrades, keep improving, and work your way toward the top of the competition.
Useful Tips
Upgrade Handling Early and Often
You can improve acceleration, handling, speed, and boost for your hydro jets. If you’re deciding what to prioritize, handling is likely the most important stat to upgrade and max first.
- In Riptide GP, even minor contact with walls or obstacles can slow you down.
- Race tracks also include waves that toss your hydro jet up and down.

Upgrading handling sooner helps you stay in control and get a better grip, which can make events easier to clear and help you finish faster.
Look for Shortcuts
Most tracks in Riptide GP: Renegade include some kind of shortcut. The best ones can decide races outright, or at least give you a strong chance to finish in the top three.
It’s worth learning the shortcuts in each track. This KeenGamer post also offers more details about the locations of six race track shortcuts.
Save Boost for Straight Sections
Speed boosts can swing races in your favor, especially when used at the right time. (More guidance follows in the original material about how and when to use boost effectively.)
