Lacuna Introduction
Lacuna Lacuna is a choice-driven sci-fi adventure where you play a CDI agent solving a murder. Gather evidence, question witnesses, and decide what truth to reveal—your actions change everything.
Lacuna
Lacuna is an adventure game built around choices and branching storytelling. You play as a CDI agent investigating a murder. Your job is to track down witness statements and collect evidence across different locations, then connect the clues to reveal what really happened.
The game puts your decisions front and center. During the investigation, you’ll face a sequence of moments where you must choose between exposing the truth—and risking harsh consequences—or hiding it to shield yourself and your loved ones. Your call ultimately determines the outcome.
Story of Lacuna
You are Neil Conrad, a CDI agent. You’re pulled out of sleep when you hear about a murder, and you rush into a case that will soon reshape your life—and the solar system itself.

Ask questions, gather evidence, and fit the story together until the ugly truth becomes clear… or doesn’t.
Your actions decide where the story goes. The narrative splits and ends differently based on what you do. There’s no rewind—though you can still speed toward the finish if you’re willing to pay the price. If you play your cards carefully, you may even get out alive.
Some questions don’t come with a clean “right” answer. Will you betray a friend to protect your family? Will you put someone you love in danger for the sake of public safety? Will you keep the peace—or reveal a shocking truth that could shatter the world?
Key Features
Choice-Driven Narrative
- Every decision can quickly change the direction of the story.
- Different story paths are explored in sequence, since reaching each outcome depends on how you play.
Deep Moral Dilemmas

- After you settle into the current events, new challenges arrive fast.
- Often you’ll be forced to choose between two difficult options that both carry real weight.
An Immersive Sci-Fi World
- The game’s 2D presentation still manages to feel rich and distinct.
- Every location and person has secrets—how much you uncover depends on your curiosity and approach.
Investigate a Murder
- Clues are tied to the case, so you’ll need to collect what’s available before you can solve what’s going on.
- The evidence you gather is essential to progressing through each problem.
No Second Chances
- Many choices must be made thoughtfully.
- At times, the game won’t let you try again—meaning you have to calculate carefully before committing.

Uncover Hidden Truths

- Once you’ve gathered the right evidence, the key conclusions appear.
- This helps improve mission completion and reduces the risk of drawing incorrect conclusions when important details are missing.

Gameplay Strategies
Fill Out Case Sheets as Fully (and as Often) as You Can
Each case in Lacuna comes with a case sheet you’ll need to complete. These sheets list important questions and missing details that you must fill in using clues you find and what you know about the world.
Completing the sheets thoroughly does two things: it gives you a clear next direction as you investigate, and it also helps you organize and consolidate what you learn along the way. If you keep them accurate and complete, you’ll be better prepared to solve cases correctly and ensure the right people face consequences.
Expect a Detective Noir Pace
Like other noir-style detective experiences, Lacuna isn’t built for constant action. The pace is generally slow, with brief bursts of intensity here and there.
This slower rhythm gives you room to study each case deeply before you start forming conclusions. It also makes Neil Conrad’s role feel more believable and engaging—because you’re not rushing; you’re investigating.
Don’t Skip Optional Interactions

Throughout the game, you can speak with many characters, and a large number of them provide useful insight. So don’t just sprint past conversations—optional interactions often contain details that matter.
Even if you’re tempted to ignore side conversations, remember this: some interactions involving Neil—such as those with his ex-wife and his daughter—can influence the game’s ending. In other words, not only do your actions have consequences, but your silence during important optional moments can matter too.
Some Achievements May Require Multiple Playthroughs
Lacuna includes achievements, and some of them depend on how you behave across an entire run. In some cases, you’ll need to commit to a specific interaction pattern from start to finish.
For example, one achievement asks you to pet Horace (your pet lizard) every time you interact with him, while another asks you to feed him every time. That means you may need to replay the game to choose the option you didn’t take the first time.
