Strategies

• If you can’t find a Magic Mirror or Ice Mirror, try Recall Potions. They provide the same function and generally have a faster use time.

• After collecting 15 gems of the same type, you can craft a Ruby Hook (Gem Hook). This makes cave exploration easier and doesn’t require a hook item—since it replaces the need for an uncommon hook drop from skeletons and piranhas.

• You can buy and craft item stacks quickly by holding the ⚷ Interact button.

• Terraria has many items, so chest organization helps. Separate storage by categories. Keep crafting-material chests near the appropriate stations—for example:

  • Ores and bars near an Anvil and Furnace
  • Potion ingredients near a Placed Bottle or Alchemy Table
  • Potions in their own chest
  • Weapons in their own chest
  • Equippable items near a Tinkerer's Workshop
  • One or two chests for miscellaneous crafting materials

• Piggy Banks, Safes, Defender’s Forges, and Void Vaults (together, personal storage) keep their contents even after being broken. You can move them into your inventory and place them again whenever you want access, effectively increasing the amount you can carry.

  



• A Piggy Bank needs a flat furniture surface to be placed—such as a Work Bench or platforms. Many versions let you obtain the Money Trough during a Blood Moon. This spawns a floating Piggy Bank that doesn’t need to be placed.

• In newer versions, the Void Bag functions like a mobile Void Vault and automatically collects items into the vault when your inventory is full.

• If you die, you’ll lose at least half of the money you’re carrying—and retrieving it can be difficult. Store money regularly in a Piggy Bank, Safe, or similar storage. When purchasing items, the game can automatically use money stored in your personal storage.

• Even at full health, Heart Crystals are still useful because you can craft Heart Lanterns, which provide health regeneration when placed.
