• I’ve played all of Kira ☆ Tama’s earlier games, and I was disappointed with the previous title, ヒルダと淫欲の塔 (Hilda and the Tower of Lust). I’m glad to see Sonia and the Village of Lust 2 is a big improvement. In Sonia 2, the CGs/H Events increased a lot compared to the first game, but many of them feel too simple in comparison—some situations are solid, but also fairly generic. The visuals are much better than before.

  There aren’t really “battles.” Instead, you mostly walk from point A to point B to unlock more scenes. If you just want to unlock everything, you can even enter the recollection room and access the content within the first minute. Sometimes simpler is better.

• This game seems to include a little of everything for a lot of players, so it may appeal to many fetishes (though not the extreme stuff). The art is decent and there’s a story, but for me it’s the gameplay that hurts the experience and led to a low rating.

  You’ll repeatedly need to talk to essentially every NPC to try to progress. There’s no real hint or quest system—so if you miss something, you may have to talk to everyone again and use trial-and-error. The closest thing to guidance is noticing which NPCs have scenes as rewards, if you manage to find the correct people to talk to.

  Some scenes/events appear to be locked behind beating the game, even if you think they’re part of the main story. Overall, the first Sonia game may be a better choice if you want clearer direction and more variety.

• It feels like the product was rushed—or possibly just using the same branding—because the first game was amazing. The first half is surprisingly enjoyable; I initially thought it was a larger game due to item menu “Warrior Clothes,” but later it turns out to be misleading. Even the underwear and soaked clothing “system” feels like a gimmick that does little or nothing across certain scenes.

  The clues are minimal, so expect plenty of exploration—talking to NPCs multiple times. It’s also an MTL, which makes everything harder. If you don’t like games where you constantly wonder “where am I supposed to go,” this will be frustrating.

  While the art isn’t bad, I’ve seen better. In the end, the original game feels stronger—consider playing that first.
