Fascinating Storyline

The fog settles slowly, unnoticed at first, hanging over an otherwise empty town during the off-season. People call in sick. No one questions it. Then John and his coworker Carly are at work when the office is surrounded by thick fog. Their cell service vanishes, and the phone lines go dead almost immediately—cutting them off from everything outside.

When they try to investigate, the dense fog burns their exposed skin and leaves them nauseous. Trapped and disoriented, they must piece together what’s happening and find a way out.

Engaging Gameplay

ToxiCity [ILSProductions]

A core feature of TOXICity is what the devs call micro-choices. These let you respond during conversations without drastically rerouting the scene. Your replies don’t automatically create alternate paths. Instead, others simply hear you—and you may get a short response.

Even so, your dialogue does influence how other survivors view you through five key attributes:

ToxiCity [ILSProductions]

  • Love – Tracks how strongly a character feels romantic interest toward the protagonist. Increase it by choosing activities involving intimacy and affection. Will you show kindness when they’re in trouble, or turn away?
  • Friends – Reflects your level of friendship with other characters. Higher values can reshape conversations and may unlock scene variations that open doors to romance.
  • ToxiCity [ILSProductions]

  • Desire – Represents sexual tension between characters. Even without a romantic setup, this can expose moments you wouldn’t usually see.
  • Trust – Measures whether a character believes in your judgment. If they feel you’re reliable, they may follow your lead—changing scenes and dialogue.
  • Anxiety – Shows whether the character is stressed by what’s happening. With the right approach, the protagonist can reassure them they’ll be okay—or that they’re safe for now. (This is corrected/adjusted data that can affect dialogue and scenes.)

Rendering and Animation Note

For rendering and animation graphics, the project currently uses Honey Select 2 Studio. While the team isn’t claiming expertise in HS1, they generated roughly 8–900 renders and more than 30 animations within a single month using it—so switching to a new tool required a learning phase. Even though the UI is similar, many plugins and modules differ or aren’t available in the new Studio, so the team had to recreate the same results using other methods, with on-the-job training along the way.

“I love this.” I just finished your game a few weeks ago and really enjoyed the story—especially because the ending lets Jukie and Sydney come find you. I ended up playing it through twice.

I was also a bit surprised. I always expected the protagonist to marry Carol, but it turns out that if Jukie and Sydney follow you, the protagonist eventually marries Julie. Now I’m curious about your new work, “Toxicty”—and I absolutely love it. The story is so good that I wanted to ask: when is the next update?

From what I understand, the Director’s Cut includes an “occasionally” ending featuring Julie and Hana as the main love interests. Beyond maintaining a good relationship with them, the ending seems to depend mainly on a specific choice made at a key moment. For example, if you choose “stay in bed with Carol” the night after the main attack on Hana’s house, the ending may prioritize the partner with the highest love point score—which may exclude Hana or Julie.

Personally, I really like the new Julie ending if you choose “Get up and check out the staff quarters.” Even if she appears less often than the others, that’s my favorite ending for her.

If you don’t go to the main house or the staff quarters after the battle, the easiest ending is probably Carol’s, since she offers more opportunities for intimacy and “favorability.” Still, if you repeatedly prioritize time with other people over Carol—or if you make consistently poor relationship decisions—you could end up with someone else. Carol’s storyline is central to the plot, so it makes sense that she’s often placed at the center near the end, but I also appreciate that every relationship has depth, each potential partner has a distinct personality, and even if you take the polyamorous route, the ending isn’t all the same.
